After World War II, a significant amount of military surplus equipment became available at low cost. This included the auxiliary fuel tanks, or "belly tanks," used on fighter aircraft like the P-51 Mustang and the P-38 Lightning. 

The Spirit of America Belly Tanker is a tribute to those boys and men and women who came home from the war and became the first hot rodders, speed demons, mechanics, designers and drivers who set land speed records and sparked the imagination of so many future racing legends.

The Spirit of America Belly Tanker is decorated in a fitting red, white and blue paint scheme, featuring the 1776 star logo on the nose and the American flag on both sides of the cockpit. The removable blue windscreen reveals the detailed cockpit and lifting the engine cover shows the wired and plumbed flathead engine. 

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each model in this series will be donated to a charity that supports America's Heroes. This includes, but is not limited to, Tunnels to Towers, Wounded Warrior, Gary Sinise Foundation, Folds of Honor, etc..
